Every week Byron “The Curator” Gonzalez creates an eclectic playlist to best represent the vibrant, unique and diverse bilingual and culturally rich communities of Southern California and across the United States.
Expect to hear a curated mix of familiar and new music in the realm of Indie, New Wave, Folk, Rock, Soul, Cumbia, Pop, RnB, Electronic, Hip-hop and anything else with an exciting sound; it's like a Kinder surprise every night.
Not only will you discover music in Spanish but also songs in other languages. And yes, English is also included in the mix.
Byron Gonzalez was born in Guatemala City and raised in Los Angeles. He started to pursue radio broadcasting during his time at Santa Monica College. This decision turned into a passion that carried him to further his education at Cal State Northridge. Soon after graduating, 88.5 FM offered him a position as the Brand Manager of The SoCal Sound's HD3 station, Bilingual Sounds 88.5 HD3
As brand manager, he assumed the role of program, music, & social media director for the station. In this role, Byron has dedicated himself to showcasing alternative music from all of Latin America including Central America and Mexico along with including alternative music from various cultures around the world. He is on a mission to best represent the cultural landscape of Southern California through alternative music and amplify it throughout the United States. He believes in unity through music because music is a universal language. Music without borders.
Other interests: Saturday Night Live, Comedy, bike riding, cooking, the cosmos and petting random dogs at dog parks.
